PROJECT OVERVIEW

A global financial services firm approached Gensler to redesign the 3rd floor of their campus in Bournemouth, UK.

The project was quite small with the team consisting of me and one other senior designer.

While working on the project I provided design support by selecting the finishes, assisting with furniture selection, drawing up furniture plans and assisting with the construction package, modeling the plans in Google sketchup and placing them in photoshop to create visuals for the presentation as well as collaborating with furniture system manufacturers and attending client meetings.

The scoped of work consisted of redesigning the entire floor to provide an alternative workplace strategy. The objective was to accommodate for the changing needs within their project teams as well as updating the look and feel of the space to apply to a younger workforce.

All floor plans were done in AutoCAD with the visuals being modeled in Google Sketchup and then photoshoped.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

A global company with an extensive property portfolio approached Gensler to design a convention center in Lisbon, Portugal

The project team consisted of myself, an associate and a senior designer.

While working on the project I provided design support on the residential units by selecting the finishes, assisting with furniture selection, making alterations to floor plans and writing up the furniture and  finishes schedule. In addition to this I collaborated with several companies in the design of the kitchens and sourcing of accessories. Throughout the design I attended client meetings and presented to the client regarding all  furniture and finishes.

The scope of work consisted of designing the convention center, roof top cafe and residential apartments to a very high level. The apartments consisted of an entire fit out with all items from furniture down to the linens and crockery being selected and sourced.

All floor plans were done in Revit with the visuals being drawn by an in house sketch artist.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

A highly renowned law firm in Copenhagen, Denmark approached Gensler to design their new offices located within two Grade I listed palaces.

The project team consisted of myself in addition to one associate designer and a senior associate.

While working on the project I provided design support by assisting with finishes and furniture selection, drawing and rendering interior elevations, drawing and modeling bespoke furniture solutions to be sent to manufacturers and writing the furniture and finishes specifications.

The scoped of work consisted of designing all floors to the highest level possible without compromising the buildings historical features. Areas designed included a client facing conference suite, private  offices, admin workstations, lower ground entertainment and spa area, as well as high end client dining area and staff cafe on the upper floor.

All floor plans and elevations were done in AutoCAD and then rendered in photoshop. Visuals were done by an in house sketch artist..

An international law firm approached Gensler to design their new offices within Tower 42 in London, UK

The project was quite small with the team consisting of me and one other senior designer.

While working on the project I provided design support by selecting the finishes, assisting with furniture selection, detailing cabinetry, drawing up elevations for the construction package and writing up the finishes schedule.

The scoped of work consisted of redesigning the reception and breakout area, selecting new finishes, refinishing the existing furniture that came included in the lease and altering the admin/secretarial workstations to provide additional storage behind.

All floor plans were done in AutoCAD with the visuals being modeled in Google Sketchup.

Located within Borough Market, a place famous for being one of London’s most renowned food markets sits Floral Hall. A Grade II listed building that originally stood in Covent Garden as part of the Royal Opera House before being relocated.

CONCEPT

My concept originated from the location and the wonderful food market that characterizes the area. From here I began looking at book markets thinking it would be wonderful to merge the chaos of the market with intimate places to read and write and enjoy the local food from the area.  I also decided to incorporate an event space to allow book launches and signings to take place and draw people in.

PROPOSED USE

My proposed use for the building is as a public building providing various areas for book lovers to meet, read, write and enjoy books. The building will be comprised of various areas including:

• Book Market
• Places to read and relax
• Informal meeting areas
• Formal meeting areas
• Bookstore

Ideally located in the heart of Shoreditch the tramshed was originally an electricity generating station for the Shoreditch Tram System. It is only a three minute walk from Liverpool Street Station making it an ideal area for an Urban Farm School.

BRIEF

To  research and design a school based upon the Montessori philosophy for children Ages 12 to 15 years.  While designing the facilites research and incorporate sustainable concepts to make the school environmentally friendly.

CONCEPT

The concept developed from Dr. Montessori’s philosophy that children need to work and feel a sense of independence between theages of 12 and 15. Often preoccupied with other issues than math and science, the school provides the necessary resources to allow  children to explore their own interests while being guided by teachers and peers.

In order to allow students in the city the opportunity to study under the Montessori system past the age of 11, my goal was to design a farm that merges the farm work and mentality with the city environment.

Located in the Borough of Islington, The Mall Antiques Arcade is currently used as a retail unit.  Originally the building housed trams used for the first tramline which opened in Islington in 1871.  It is located next to camden passage which runs off Upper Street.

CONCEPT

The concept developed from camden passage, a pedestrian passage running off Upper Street and boardering the arcade.  The passage is known for its many antique shops.  After looking at the antique shops I was reminded of beautiful antique furniture often found in old country homes and began looking at the countryside.  I wanted to create a peaceful and calming atmosphere that represents the rolling hills of the country and merge it with the busy urban environment of the city.

Located in the city of Westminster on what is known as the Howard deWalden Estate most of the buildings date from around 1900 when the high street underwent rebuilding.  The area that surrounds Marylebone is known for its respected medical practices and boutique shops located in this area.  The property located at 77/78 currently houses a retail store that sells organic produce.

CONCEPT

The concept developed from the brief really.  When asked to develop a NGO and brand it I started thinking about all the environmental issues taking place in the world.  I decided to go with water consumption and play with the fluid forms it creates.  The interior I would like to achieve will play with fluid forms that make people more spatially aware of the water that is in the world and the amount we have left.

BRAND DEVELOPMENT

To produce a brand that is captivating and draws people in off of the high street to learn more about water conservation both directly and through bespoke events.  Target market would be mid to upperclass residents aged 21 and over to become a member although the store and facilites will be open to people of all ages.

OBJECTIVE:

The objective of this exercise was to learn about the building systems and codes that apply to various construction types. For my building system I picked timber and designed a timber framed house.

Through this exercise I learned about the different codes necessary to ensure a structure is stable and sound etc. I also learned how buildings are made and what materials are necessary to create a sound structure.

This section is hand-drawn by me using ink pens on tracing paper and then placed into photoshop to add the text and ground fill.
